New 2021 GMC Terrain

When it comes to the highest level of versatility, it is hard to compete with what a mid-size SUV brings to the table. While some might associate GMC with big trucks, there are a lot of things that new GMC vehicles have to offer. To say that the new 2021 GMC Terrain has come a long way since it first debuted in 2010 would be an understatement. Starting as a basic 5-seat SUV 11 years ago, the Terrain has matured and become a vehicle that is perfect for every driver and family.

Whether you’re looking for the perfect vehicle to comfortably commute to and from work or school in or trying to find that vehicle that will be the key to all of your future adventures, the new 2021 GMC Terrain is a great fit for you. Keep reading to learn more about what is new with the GMC Terrain in 2021.

What’s New with the 2021 GMC Terrain?

While the new 2021 GMC Terrain will continue to be offered in four different trim levels, there’s been some reshuffling with what those trim levels will be for this model year, like those at Patriot Ardmore.
The SL base trim level from 2020 has been dropped to make way for the new AT4 trim package. The new base trim level is the SLE, while the top-of-the-line trim is still the Denali package. All trim levels have both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive on offer, with the all-wheel-drive package costing more.

Trim Levels and Options

The 2021 Terrain has four different trim levels for you to choose from, with ample options to find the perfect fit. Those trim levels are the SLE, SLT, Denali, and AT4.

The Terrain SLE comes equipped with some luxury features like the HID headlights and hands-free liftgate that both come standard. You’ll also get to enjoy the Amazon Alexa technology for your infotainment needs while behind the wheel. The SLE is capable of making room for objects up to 8 feet long with standard flat-fold seating. This makes your GMC Terrain versatile for all of your utility and cargo needs.

You’ll also be protected by other great GMC Terrain features like the GMC Pro Safety, which uses cameras and sensors to keep you and your family safe. This includes a backup camera that is displayed on the standard touchscreen 7″ display. You’ll also have a 12V input for any charging needs, as well as a 6-speaker sound system for enjoying driving your Terrain in style.

The SLT is a kindred spirit with the SLE package. It shares many of the same features. You’ll enjoy the power of HID headlights and the hands-free liftgate. You’ll also enjoy access to Amazon Alexa technology. The SLT package comes standard with the 7″ touchscreen display as well as with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for easy synchronization with your smartphone or device. Both the SLT and SLE trim levels also have support for devices that use USB-C cables, which is a thoughtful touch. The SLT trim level also comes with a standard leather steering wheel. The SLT features dual-zone climate control, a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, and remote start capabilities. You’ll also get bigger 18″ wheels and leather seat trim for more comfort and lumbar support.

The Denali is a new trim feature for the new 2021 GMC Terrain, becoming first available during the early months of 2021. It has some carryover of features from the SLT but brings a bit more luxury to the table. The first big difference you’ll see with the Denali trim is the upgraded suspensions system. The Denali uses powerful struts and shocks to deliver that refined and luxurious ride no matter where the road takes you.

It also gets an upgraded steering wheel that has the luxury of being leather-wrapped and heated. It is perfect for those cold winter mornings. You’ll also get a leather interior with Denali hand-stitched into the backs of the seats. From an infotainment system, you can expect an 8″ touchscreen with Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. You’ll also get upgraded wheels that are 19″ and Sirius XM along with built-in Navigation.

The AT4 package is the newest trim level for the 2021 GMC Terrain. It has yet to be released, but it is expected to be available this summer. It is built for enthusiasts that love driving outdoor vehicles in rough terrain. The AT4 will come standard with more hardy tires and other off-road-specific designs. It is also expected to come with its own distinctive colors that won’t be available at other trim levels. Other cosmetic changes include a different grill and different badging.

The new 2021 GMC Terrain has two options for engines. Both are 4-cylinder turbocharged engines, with the only difference being the engine size and power production. The first engine is a 1.5L turbocharged engine that produces 170hp and 203 lb-ft of torque. This engine is the more fuel-efficient of the two options with an average fuel economy of 27 miles per gallon.

The other option for the powertrain on the new GMC Terrain is a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 252hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. This engine averages about 23 miles per gallon but provides more power and acceleration. Both of these engines are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and the option of FWD or AWD.

One of the biggest perks with the 2021 Terrain is that the safety features are the same across all trim levels. The new Terrain comes standard with the Pro Safety Plus Package. This package comes with the Intellibeam headlight system, auto emergency braking, rear park assist, lane keep assist, and forward-collision reporting as some of the features. All models come with 6 airbags along with hill descent control and electronic traction control.
